Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Mental Disorders are conditions that affect your thinking, fellings, or even your behavior. Such features may be persistent or occur as a single episode. Here I am going to write about, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or (OCD).  

This mental disorder is an anxiety one, therefore is characterized by being associated to feelings of fear and distress. It is a chronic and a long- lasting disorder in which the person has reoccurring unwanted thoughts, or ideas, that make him feels the urge to repeat over and over.

The thoughts that a person may have, produce that the person make certain rituals or compulsive actions to reduce the anxiety and feling better.

There is not a exact cause to know how this disorder is produced, but normally the factors that may influence, are head injuries, infections and abnormal functions in certain areas of the brain.

Sometimes your genes are responsable for them. Parents and Teachers often recognize symptoms of OCD in childs. And most of the people receive a diagnosis at 19 or 20, but there are people with OCD that don´t have symptoms until 30.

A Person could live his entire life with this disfunction without feeling any problem, but there cases when the quality of life starts to diminish. One of the most common effects may be the social isolation making that the person leave his job and relationships.

This disorder can be treated with especial therapy to understand how the disorder was produced.

Post Graduate Studies

It´s true, We live in times of change and progress, and is important to take into account that our studies are subject too. Of course, everything i want right now is to ending my career, without problems and being excellent in what i chose to become a good chemist. It is challenge, a difficult one, but i want to take the risks.

After finishing my career, i am considering to  make a post- graduate courses, I have many reasons to take a post-grade course, one of them, is that this postgraduate will bring me to my dream job, which is becoming a Forensic Scientist. I would like to study subjects like Criminalistics, Ballistics, Psycohological Behaviour, Chemical Methods, and a lot of things like that.

The bad thigs is that the Ph D i want to take is not here in this country. So i´m planning to find that Ph D in any university abroad. Maybe United States Canada, Mexico, or even in a country of Europe, like Germany.

I woudn´t like to study by internet or distance learning. I believe that it´s important to have a good learning, that means a presential course. In courses like this you can make friends, and of course, ask to the teacher questions you may have, and in this kind of Ph D, it is likely that one can perform experiments in a lab and if you make a online course, you don´t make any of those things.
Is a long way to go, but i hope to achieve what i want.

 

Thinking of my future is very difficult, it seems like something too far away. And well, i choose this career because i always wanted to be Forensic Scientist. That would be my perfect job. Just analize crime scenes, for me looks ideal. I wanted that job since i watched Tv shows like CSI, years ago, when I was a child. And then I realized that in a job like this i can mix the thing i like, chemistry and investigation.

In a job like this, i would work indoor and outdoor, so that´s amazing because, i wil have different places to go and analyze. And i hope traveling a lot in my job, because for me travel is something essential in my life. Besides, I would like to travel abroad. Maybe Mexico, United States or England. Wherever i go, there are lots of murders, so I will have always a job. Well, I actually don´t know how much the salary of a Forensic Scientist is but that doesn´t matter too much, if i do what i love. It´s alright if the moneys is enought for me. After I finish my career i would like to follow a major in Forensic Science and Criminology, these two are different thing, Criminology involves everything related whit the reason why a crime is commited, and Forensic Scientist is more about how the crime was maded.

Music in my Life...

Music…. What would i do without it? It´s very important in my life. Music has the power of bringing back old memories. A lot of songs make me return to different memories that i had. And well, that´s is awesome. My favorite kind of music is Indie, more like Indie Rock. Bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Black Keys, Blaenavon, and my favorite one Arctic Monkeys. I always wanted to go to a concert of them, it is one of my dreams. So i hope they come to Chile soon, because i have already missed tree oportunities.

 When I was a child, I remember that I listened to the music that my father likes, bands like Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, A-Ha and too many more, and of course, Latin Rock. And now i still listen to that music too, so nothing has changed, i like that kind of music, I grew up into that kind music. 

Music is everywhere, there are a lot of films that have extrordinary soundtracks. Films like Star Wars, for example, or Pirates of the Caribbean have an orchestra that makes that all the movie makes sense. Music produces certains fellings that are imposible to get in any other way. I need music along my day, even when i go to sleep, so i thank humans who realized that they could play it.

My favourite Book and Film!!

Reading is a pleasure. Everytime I hold a book in my hand, it makes me feel amazing. Honestly i  don´t have a favourite book, because there are too many genres, like fantasy, mystery, btw. That makes me imposible just choose one of them. But one of the last books that i read, and i like, it´s named “Nineteen Eighty-Four”. Written by an English novelist called George Orwell. One of my school teacher recomended it, and he even gave me one copy of it. At first the book looked bored to me, but i gave it a chance and i finished it. The result: I loved it! It is about a distopic society in a futuristic world. A society where the information is manipulated and there are political and social repression. It is a great book!

And well, my favorite movie, is “Inception”. A north american film premiered on 2010. I don´t remember the first time that i saw it, but i know that i was with my family waching it. The film is about a professional thief who specializes in stealing secrets from his victims by infiltrating their dreams. I really loved that movie!! If you like science fiction and crime films, you need to watch this awesome film.

My Holidays....

The best holidays that i ever had, was when i travelled to Tongoy, a coastal town in the district of Coquimbo. I travelled there with my parents, my brother and my sister. It was some time ago, in 2015. From 28th January to 17th February. It was an awesome holidays, because we camped on the beach, and that is cool, because in the night you only hear the sea and the waves and look at the sky.

 

We spent all day in the beach, just enjoying the good weather. We were there in summer so the weather was perfect, shinny and warm. But the night is terrible, because it gets very cold, but that is just a little inconvenient. I spend the best days of my life there, enjoying the beach and slepping on the sand. Something that i liked too was the gastronomy. Tongoy is very turistic so there are a lots of restaurant, and the sea food,of course, is the speciality. Tongoy has two mains beaches, Playa Grande and Socos. If you want a relaxing holidays, Tongoy is a excelent choice.

I would like to visit.....

Which country i like to go? Well, that is something difficult to decided, because one of my dreams is travelling all around the World. But yes, it´s going to be hard to make it true. So, if I only need to choose one country, It´ll be Germany. Just imagine about travelling in winter and  see, all the old castles covered with snow, for me sounds very great. I know  some things of the country and the culture, that only makes me want to travel there as soon as possible. The traditions that they have are amazing, such as Ocktoberfest,  German Unity day, St. Nicholas Days and many more.  In architecture, Germany maintains the Romanesque style and the Brick Gothic which is a distinctive mediaval style that coveres most of the country, and it´s the part that i most like because it´s make me feel like i was a in a bookstory, wearing beautifull big dresses and going to dances. Yes it´s something funny, but let recognise it, it´s like going back in time.

Germany has a lot of atractions, I only mention a few. But, I hope one day i would be there and just let myself fascinate with  everything that Germany offers.
